We hope everyone is safe and well at home. We are reaching out once again to provide some updates regarding the spring season. Yesterday, MA Youth Soccer released a statement that extended the suspension of all soccer related activities through and including Sunday, May 3rd.  There are still no plans to cancel our spring season for any level, but that could change as more information becomes available. As was stated in the previous email, leagues are still working hard at coming up with multiple plans for a variety of scenarios should the opportunity to play become available.

Attached to this email you will find some at home skills for your player(s) to work on. While nothing can replace being on the field with their coaches and teammates for games or practices, we are hopeful they will take some time and practice at home. We encourage all parents and players to share videos and pictures of them practicing at home.

WEEKLY CHALLENGES- This week’s winners will receive a New Balance AYS Sweatshirt

  • For our older players who can’t stop making TikTok videos, let’s see you make a TikTok showing off your “DRIBBLING” skills. Winner doesn’t have to be an amazing dribbler but must be wearing their AYS team shirt. We are looking for things like effort, hard work, imagination, and of course- a good song. Tag the AYS TikTok account, @abingtonyouthsoccer, and use #abingtonyouthsoccer.
  • For our younger players, draw a picture of you scoring a goal. Use your imagination! Having animals as the opposing goalie are strongly encouraged! Pictures can be sent to us on facebook or Instagram. If you don’t want the picture posted online, it can also be emailed to ayspres@gmail.com.
  • Parent Bonus Challenge!!- Parents, why not make soccer practice fun for the whole family? We know you are using that TikTok app too! We could all use some laughs while we are stuck in the house. How many juggles can you get? Best TikTok wins a gift card to one of our sponsors. Don’t have TikTok? We will accept any videos shared on our social media. 🙂

During this crazy time, please try to support our sponsors. They step up each year to help make our rec season enjoyable for all the kids and they need our support now more than ever. Check out our facebook page for a list of our sponsors.

Lastly, if anyone knows a graduating high school senior who participated in our program at some point, let them know that they are eligible for the Abington Youth Soccer Scholarship (see attachment) and possibly the South Shore Soccer League and MA Youth Scholarships. Deadlines are coming up quick.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the season, league or soccer in general, please do not hesitate to reach to our President Brian Agnew, ayspres@gmail.com, or any of our other board members.

Stay safe!
